Truck Driver Jobs and Freedom

It wasn’t until I had been driving a truck for a few months that I realized all the freedom that I had been missing out on at my old job. Freedom is probably more important in life than having money is. Although money can usually buy you freedom and I suppose you could make the “what came first, the chicken or the egg” argument here.

With my trucking job I realized I had no boss looking over my shoulder like at my old job. I didn’t have to smile if I didn’t want to and I could use the bathroom without having to let someone know where I was going. It wasn’t any one thing but an accumulation of little freedoms added up that I started to notice.

My truck driver job allowed me to work at my own pace and take naps when I wanted to taking one. I can’t imagine the look on my old employers face if I would have decided to take a nap at work! I could eat, smoke, listen to music and talk on my cell phone all day with my truck driver job. Each of these things would get you a day off or fired at my old job.

The best of all the freedom I had was the ability to make twice as much money as at my old job.  Most trucking jobs don’t care what you wear to work or if you have facial hair or not. I don’t even have a set start time with my trucking job so I just go to work when I feel like it (Within reason). Now that’s freedom.

You can even ask the low paid truck drivers who don’t make a lot of money  if they would go back to working a regular job. You won’t find many that would ever punch a time clock again. They say “Once you feed a dog wet food you can never go back to dry food.” The same is true with the freedom that truck driver jobs have to offer. Once you experience it you won’t go back.

Most truck drivers can’t imagine going back to having  rules and making less money. I know for a fact I could never work a regular job again. If a truck driver gets upset or wants to speak his mind he will. Go to channel 19 on any C.B. radio and imagine how long that language will last in a normal work environment.

Freedom that Truck Driver Jobs Offer

  • No boss looking over your shoulder.
  • Eat when you want to- not at a designated time!
  • Smoke or chew tobacco if you want.
  • Grow facial hair.
  • Wear what you want.
  • Sleep when you want too.
  • Make more money.
  • Listen to your favorite radio shows or audio books all day.
  • Unlimited Talking on the telephone.
  • Speak your mind to co -workers on the  radio. (good or bad)
  • Go to the bathroom when you want and not have to tell someone where you are going.
  • Job security- live where ever you want . Thousands of trucking jobs everywhere!
  • No suits, name tags, answering phones.
  • No yes sir, no sir, or fake smiles.

.

Top all this freedom off with a truck driver job that puts you home everyday like a normal job and you have the best of both worlds. When you experience all this freedom it sinks in and you wont let go. Millions of Americans fought and died for our freedom in wars and conflicts, yet 90% of the general public go to work and give up most of it for 8-10 hours a day and for a low wage.

A friend of mine called me one night while I was driving my truck and we talked for about two hours. Eventually he told me he had to go and get ready for work so I hung up the phone and smiled. He was getting ready for work and I was already there. I made about $70 while on the phone talking to my friend driving my truck down the road.

If you have a regular old job, go to work and pay attention to all the rules you have. Ask your boss if he minds if you can listen to the Howard Stern show all day and talk on your cell phone. Order a pizza and take a nap while your waiting for it.  While your at it ask for a pay raise. If it doesn’t work out for you, you can always come back and read my Ebook and get one of these great truck driver jobs!
